With Mother’s Day just around the corner, there’s never been a better time to get the materials out and get crafting – here at StickyTiger, we think giving something made by hand is a great alternative to popping into the local supermarket and buying a bunch of flowers (not that we don’t love a good bloom!). From a simple felt corsage to colourful clay jewellery, we’ve come up with five great handmade gifts that will make your Mum feel like a million dollars.
A Felt Corsage
One of the simplest and most effective handmade gifts has to be an easy felt corsage; felt is a wonderfully versatile fabric and as it doesn’t fray, it needs absolutely no hemming or edging. The best thing about making these little beauties is that you can literally make it up as you go along – choose from our various coloured felt sheets, cut out your petal shapes and away you go. The finish can be as simple or as detailed as you like; think hand-stitched felt leaves, ribbon and haberdashery details and little areas of beading to make your gift a truly unique one.
Origami Flowers
From tulips to forget-me-nots, plants and flowers are one of the most traditional Mother’s Day gifts there are – but even though they look lovely on the day, they soon begin to wilt and look, well, a bit sad.
