 | Half-Term Craft Round-Up19 February 2015 | Nicola |
It’s the school holidays, and February means cold temperatures and bad weather – which makes it the perfect time to get crafting with the kiddos. We’ve scoured the web for some great projects designed with little hands in mind, and have featured our favourites below – pass the PVA!

Puppets
Making puppets is a great idea; not only is it a fun activity in itself, but there’s also the opportunity to make a theatre once they’re finished. From vegetable finger puppets to traditional animals, and retro themed glove puppets, the possibilities are almost endless!

Toilet Roll Creatures
Anyone with children knows that toilet rolls seem to disappear at a rate of knots, so it’s lucky that the inner cardboard tubes have so many crafting uses. From making dancing string puppets to jointed snakes and colourful fish, by adding a selection of tissue paper, washi tape and paint, you and the kids can take your rubbish from waste to wonderful.

Dressing Up
All children love dressing up in some form, and the best way we know of to create a disguise is by making a simple mask; from felt superheroes to lavish headdresses and simple paper masks, it’s a great way to mix materials and stretch the imagination.

16 August 2014 | Nicola Fimo is one of the most versatile craft materials on the market; easy to shape and harden, it can be used to make beads, pots, badges, hairclips, collar clips and a whole range of other things. Especially great for kids, we’ve come up with a quick tutorial on making your very own Fimo beads, in a variety of shapes and sizes. |
8 August 2014 | Nicola This week, as part of our crafting with kids series, we’re going to show you how to make the simplest ever feathered headdress; made entirely from felt, there’s no seams, no fraying and no hassle. |
29 July 2014 | Nicola When it comes to adding an individual touch, you don’t get much more personal than using fingerprints; from children’s birthday invitations to save-the-date cards, baby growth charts and guest books, incorporating fingerprints into the design can make your items that little bit more special. |
22 July 2014 | Nicola It’s mid July, which means the school holidays are here; six long weeks of free time with no school runs and no homework equal plenty of time for other fun activities – like crafting! |
